Chazy Legion Post 769 collecting care packages for troops

The Legion post will also accept donations of money to help with the costs of shipping the items to the troops. This will be an ongoing drive, said Willard Martin of Post 769. He explained that they had recently been informed that Sgt. Christopher Hart, of Plattsburgh, who is a member of a Military Police platoon, had recently been deployed to Afghanistan. As veterans, the group decided to show their support in hopes it may make the time served a little more bearable. According to Clinton County Veterans Services Agency director, Steve Bowman, who is also a member of Post 769, Sgt. Hart is the son of Kimberly Bouissey, a fifth grade teacher at Momot Elementary in Plattsburgh. Over the past few months Bouissey and her students have been building an ongoing relationship with local veterans who belong to the Robert A. Lafountain DAV Post. Bowman is a fellow member of that organization as well. Somebodys got to stand behind our troops, Bowman said. Our own government isnt giving them the support they so deserve, so we as veterans have to. Anyone wishing to donate items or money can drop them off at the Post in Chazy between 6 10 a.m., Monday through Friday. Questions can be answered by calling the post at 846-7100.
