Ti elementary play on tap

Students will present The Light Under the Sea Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is free. Its something the entire family can come to and enjoy, said music teacher Wayne Chagnon, the plays director. We want it to be a family event. There will be refreshments served after the show. The Light Under the Sea tells the story of an angel fish who knows she is special, but is uncertain how. She eventually learns to harness her talent and cures the prince of Atlantis, who has fallen ill from the effects of pollution. The play was adapted by Chagnon from another play. I wanted to make it something our kids could relate to, he said. This years cast includes nearly 70 students in grades 3-5 with 40 speaking parts. We usually average 35-40 students, Chagnon said. The production last year was fantastic and I think it caught wind with kids. This year everyone wants to be part of it. Students have been rehearsing since January. Teacher Mike Edson is assistant director and Karney Manning is lighting director.
