Bloomingdale Boosters challenge others to fundraise

BLOOMINGDALE The Bloomingdale Boosters are sending out a challenge to other area groups. On Friday, March 9, the club presented a $200 check to the Friends of Dave Malbon Committee at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown. Club representative Paul Amell, who is the director of maintenance at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, made the presentation to Lynn Wallace, a member of the Friends of Dave Malbon Committee. Malbon, a Witherbee teenager with a talent for football, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident on Aug. 30, 2005. His mother, Gina Malbon, is a senior housekeeper at Horace Nye. Wallace said the family needed to purchase a handicap van. Malbon is currently in the hospital, but his family is preparing for him to come home. We want to challenge all the other sports booster clubs or any other club so we can help the family, said Amell. The Bloomingdale Booster Club raises money to support young area athletes, including those that play softball, soccer, baseball, basketball and hockey. Those wishing to make a donation can contact Wallace at 546-3035 for more information.
