JOHNSBURG Sunday marks one of the most popular events at Gore Mountain as the annual Cardboard Derby takes center slope. Presented by Gore Mountain and WRVE The River 95.5, racing kicks off at 11 a.m. with the grand prize being a trip for two to Aruba. Sleds must be constructed completely of cardboard and the only acceptable adhesives are glue or tape. Creativity and successful downhill performance (not speed) both count big for the judges in this event. Helmets are required and the format has been revised for this years event: adult sleds will be for two-person teams only. Kids can compete as two-person or four-person sleds. Sleds of past competitions have included a perfect US Air jet replica, the Titanic, and an enormous brontosaurus. For complete rules and to register, log on to www.wrve.com. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
