Getting hitched? Vermont is the place

With a $10,000 grant awarded to the Vermont Association of Wedding Professionals (VAWP) by the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing, the Green Mountain State will get even higher national visibility as a wedding, civil union, and honeymoon destination. The grant will help market Vermont to the growing population of couples looking to exchange vows in Vermont. VAWP is committed to being an inclusive Vermont wedding resource to help strengthen this growing trend and revenue builder throughout the state. Advertising and public relations efforts will be focused on several bridal-oriented publications especially Martha Stewart and Elegant Weddings. Vermont wedding displays will also be set up later this year at welcome centers throughout the state. The 125 members of the two-year-old non-profit, organization are united in promoting Vermont as an exceptional site for destination for couples. The group recently launched the web site www.yourvermontwedding.com for both wedding professionals and couples. The organization is made up of photographers, cake makers, officiates, florists, rental companies, jewelers, inns, caterers, hotels, and chambers of commerceeach with an eye towards inviting others to celebrate the special day in Vermont, a state rich in heritage, history, beauty, and romance.
