Access grant for blacktop at Wevertown Community Center

JOHNSBURG Former Johnsburg Supervisor Bill Montfort appeared at the last town board meeting two weeks ago. And he came bearing gifts.

The Warren County Democratic Election Commissioner announced that thanks to an elections access grant that Montfort secured for Johnsburg, the parking lot at the Wevertown Community Center is going to be paved.

Its not a 50/50 grant, Montfort said. Its just a full grant.

The $9,406.38 grant will pay for paving, handicapped parking, striping and signs at the Wevertown facility, Montfort said.

Current Johnsburg Supervisor Bill Thomas said he is making arrangements with the Warren County Department of Public Works to do the work in conjunction with town crews.

Theyre going to come up and look at it, Thomas said. Theyll measure it for space and such and see all that it entails.

Thomas said the cost to the town will be minimal if anything.

I dont see a lot of town expense here with in-kind services, he said. We can take take care of this fairly inexpensively and have a nice parking lot when were done.

The work should be completed before the next election, Montfort said.

We have a primary in September, Montfort said. Hopefully well have it done for that.
