SCHROON LAKE A long-time senior citizen advocate has been named the 2007 Schroon Lake Citizen of the Year.
Lorraine Erikson has been selected by the Schroon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber of commerce will be recognizing the significant contributions that she has made to our community and area for many years including her efforts with the Senior Citizens Club, Community Church and Schroon Lake Association, according to a chamber statement. She is a very dedicated person who has helped or worked with many individuals from our Schroon Lake community. Erikson was nominated last year, but the award went to Roger Friedman.
I knew I had been nominated last year, but never gave it a thought after Roger won, Erikson said. I was very glad Roger won. Hes done so much for the community and deserved it.
When they called me to tell me I won this year, I just didnt respond, she added. I was at a loss for words. I think there are many deserving people in Schroon Lake who work very hard for the betterment of the community. This is a great honor.
Erikson will be formally recognized at the annual chamber dinner Tuesday, June 19, at Drakes Restaurant. The social hour with a cash bar will be 6-7 p.m. and dinner will be at 7p.m. Reservations must be obtained through the chamber office at 532-7675. The price for the dinner is $26 and includes tax and tip. Dinner choices are prime rib, salmon or chicken marsala.
The public is welcome to attend.
