Independence Day in Rouses Point

ROUSES POINTThe Rouses Point July 4th Festival Committee is holding the 47th Annual 4th of July Parade on Sunday, July 1 at 7 p.m.

The weekend events begin Friday, June 29 with carnival rides, food booths, games and more. A combined concert of the Community Choir/Strawhatters starting at 7 p.m. will perform inside the Civic Center and Zero Tolerance will perform under the gazebo from 812 p.m.

The grounds will open again at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 30. The annual Village Wide Garage Sale will start at 8 a.m. For more information contact Carol Hanfield or Monica Merchand at 297-5502.

Kids Day with the bike decorating contest, other games and entertainment for the children will start on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m. Penelope The Clown will be present to do face painting and create balloon hats and animals. At 12:30 p.m. songwriter and storyteller Roy Hurd will perform.

The band Just Us will perform at 2-6 p.m. A teen dance will be held at the Rouses Point Civic Center at 8-11 p.m. with live music by United Mess and then South Junction will perform from 8 p.m. until midnight under the Civic Center Gazebo.

On Sunday, July 1, the firemen will hold the annual chicken barbecue starting at 12 p.m. at the fire station. The grounds will also open at noon with the carnival rides, food booths, games and the beer tent. A car and motorcycle show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.At 7 p.m. the street parade starts followed by fireworks over Lake Champlain starting at dusk.
