Friends of Johnsburg Library plan for August Book and Bake Sale

NORTH CREEK Organizers are finalizing plans for the Friends of the Johnsburg Library Annual Book and Bake Sale set for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3-4.

The Preview Party will take place from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at the Tannery Pond Community Center. This event offers patrons the opportunity to browse and buy books while supporting the Friends group and its efforts to promote library activities including childrens programs. The Preview Party will feature music by the Dont Quit Your Day Job band with wine and soda, various hors doeuvres, and a chocolate fountain. Tickets are $8 per person, $15 per couple, with a 10-book limit per person.

The Book and Bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There is no admission fee; all are welcome to attend. The Friends group still is requesting donations of baked goods for this event. Items may be dropped off either Friday, Aug. 3 at the library during regular hours, or starting at 8:15 a.m. Saturday with Mary Lou Cole at the baked goods table at Tannery Pond Community Center.

New at this years Book and Bake Sale will be an Authors Corner featuring local writers including Rosemary Pelkey and Scott Remington offering readings, books for sale, and signings. In addition, Richard Greener, from Atlanta, GA and sometimes Wevertown brings us his two latest mysteries, The Knowland Retribution (parts of this story is set in the Wevertown area) and The Lacey Confession, both that feature Vietnam War veteran Walter Sherman, known as the Locator.

There also will be a Chinese Auction and raffle tickets for an Adirondack Twig Loveseat. Raffle tickets will be available at the book sale and are available now at the Johnsburg Library for $1 each, or six for $5. Winner will be drawn at the end of the book sale Saturday.

Theres still time to drop off your gently used books, records, videos, audio tapes, baked goods, and puzzles for the sale. Bring those items to the Johnsburg Library before Friday, Aug. 3. For more information, call the library at 251-4343.
