Youth Works is sending a group to the area each week throughout the summer, and Knolls said they do projects of all types, including painting homes.
Were looking for more projects, Knolls said. We base the projects on need, but we also want people to have a relationship with the kids that come to work at their homes.
Matthew Lill, a 17-year-old from Indiana, said its his first visit to the Adirondacks.
The mountains look awesome, he said. This is his first Mission Trip with Youth Works, and so far, hes worked cleaning a construction site and cleaning stalls at a local stable.
I like the mountains and the trees, said Kenneth Graham, also from Indiana. Its really flat back home. This is his second Mission Trip. Last year, he went with a group to Martin, S.D. to work for a week.
Chasen Shoopman also likes the scenery.
To leave your hometown and see views like this is amazing, he said.
Mike Rutan is an adult leader from Troy, Mich. who traveled with the group.
These kids are learning to work together, about the outdoors and gardening, he said. They talk about there day and make lifetime friendships.
