Altona celebrates in a big way

ALTONA It may be a small town, but Altona certainly celebrated its sesquicentennial in a big way!
On June 30 and July 1 the streets of Altona were the busiest theyve been in a long time with droves of people going to the antiques displays and appraisals, the Old Engine show, the gala Celebration Ball, and the goings on at the fire station. Then there was the street parade, which incidentally was one of the largest seen here in the Northern Tier area, clad with antique cars, trucks, tractors and buggies, marching bands and a great variety of floats.
Immediately following the parade hundreds of people turned out to the Holy Angels Church grounds for the Old Homes Day celebration, where there was plenty of entertainment, dancing and lots of great food too.
The event ended with a bang, or rather, many of them, as the crowds gathered to watch the fireworks display.
