WCS announces Student Achievement Awards

Anthony Auricchio, son of Debi and Ray Auricchio of Warrensburg, is an 8th grade student at Warrensburg Jr/Sr High School. He was nominated by Mrs. Theresa Rescorl, general science teacher, who said, Tony is the hardest working student in his science class. He is very consistent about his work, enthusiastically participates in group discussions, and is an asset to the class. What makes Tony deserving of recognition is that he comes in for help during activity period when he needs it, without being prompted. Emily Baker, a 4th grade student in Mrs. Glebus classroom, is the daughter of Jessica and Donovan Baker of Thurman. In her nomination of Emily, Mrs. Glebus said, Emily demonstrated great kindness towards others by donating a free movie ticket to see Arthur & the Invisibles. The class was asked to write a letter detailing why they should be selected, and Emily decided to give the ticket to a classmate who might not otherwise have been able to go. Emily is an exceptional young lady. The students were honored at the recent meeting of the Board of Education. Each student was presented with a beautiful medallion on a blue and gold ribbon and gift certificates to local businesses. Congratulations to the students and their families!
