Plattsburgh International Airport Fund pretty close to goal

PLATTSBURGH According to Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce president Garry Douglas, the Plattsburgh International Airport (PIA) Take Off Fund is just about $30,000 short of the $200,000 goal. The fund was designed with the demonstration of strong community support for the air services in mind. It is hoped that this community support will be used to provide incentives for prospective air service deals, such as cooperative marketing of new service or partially underwriting certain initial start-up costs. Were up against competing airports who have raised as much as $ 1 million to help entice airlines, said Douglas in a recent press release. The goal is to raise $200,000 in order to be competitive and to be able to offer the kinds of community support that will be expected. Douglas is encouraging any businesses that have not yet contributed to the PIA Take Off Fund to do so and he welcomes individual donations as well. To Donate to the PIA Take Off Fund: Send contributions to PIA Take Off Fund, Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 310, Plattsburgh, NY, 12901.
