Larrow ready for role as state's Junior Miss

Alexandra is the daughter of Jim and Nancy Larrow and is a student at Vergennes Union High School. A panel of five judges selected her from a field of high school seniors competing in the 50th annual Vermont s Junior Miss scholarship program. In addition to winning this award, Alexandra also received several other awards: the fitness award, talent award, self-expression award, interview award, and the Spirit of Junior Miss award. In total, she received $950 in cash scholarships and $21,000 in scholarships to Green Mountain College. Larrow will go on to compete in the 50th Annual Americas Junior Miss National Finals in Mobile , Ala. , in June 2007, where she will have the opportunity to win a share of more than $100,000 in cash scholarships. The categories in which the contestants were evaluated were interview (25 percent), talent (25 percent), fitness (15 percent), and self-expression (15 percent). A separate panel evaluated the contestants in the scholastics category (20 percent). Vermont s Junior Miss is an official preliminary of Americas Junior Miss (AJM). Founded in 1958, AJM is the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school senior girls. More than 700,000 young college-bound young women have competed in the program, including Diane Sawyer, co-host of ABCs Good Morning America and co-anchor of Primetime Thursday; Deborah Norville, host of Inside Edition; E.D. Hill, an anchor on Fox News Channels Fox and Friends; and Debra Messing, co-star of NBCs Will & Grace.
