PLATTSBURGH Valcour Imaging is a new, state-of-the art imagery facility run by Associates in Radiology, a team of 11 board-certified radiologist, offering the best in outpatient diagnostic medical imaging. Most everyone on our team is tied to the area in one way or another, said Wolodymyr Vlad Bula, M.D. Some staff may have grown up here, while others had their training or education in the area to include the radiology programs offered at UVM, Syracuse or Albany, he explained. We created Valcour Imaging/Associates in Radiology to provide services to CVPH, Elizabethtown Hospital and to patients here in the North Country. Our team of radiologists rotates from one facility to the next, Bula added. With CVPH in mind, Bula said their goal is to provide a place for outpatient services without that sterile hospital setting. Valcour Imaging was designed with a warm and inviting atmosphere to help put patients, many who tend to be nervous and apprehensive, at ease during the testing. Patients here are seeing other patients in their street clothes, rather than wearing a hospital gown, and they are not at risk of being interrupted by emergencies, Bula went on to explain. If your appointment is at 10 a.m., it is at 10 a.m. Bula noted the full-line of diagnostic medical imaging services available at Valcour Imaging, which is conveniently located at 16 Degrandpre Way, just off Plaza Blvd., nearby the Tom Miller Road and Route 3 in Plattsburgh. He said the team of radiologist has fellowships in neuroradiology, musculo-skeletal radiology, body imaging, and angio-interventional (vascular) imagery. Valcour Imaging offers Open MRI, which is open on all four sides to help eliminate claustrophobia; Multi-slice CT Scan, with routine and advanced applications and CT angiograms; Ultrasound, to focus on abdominal, small parts and vascular imagery; and Diagnostic X-ray, offering computerized radiography. Bula explained that one of the major advantages of Valcour Imaging is that they are equipped with digital imaging, which is loaded onto the PACs system - a storage system shared with the radiology database at CVPH. This means we are able to pull up past studies or send new ones back and forth between here and CVPH, Bula said. Timeliness is another advantage in that if we are busy here, we can enlist in the help of radiologist at CVPH that can assist us by reading results and helping with the diagnosis, Bula said. Essentially all our exams are read the same day and reports come out within 24 hours. We also offer the convenience of being available to consult with other physicians and practices throughout the area, either in person or on the phone, he said. Flexibility is another benefit, he said. The new facility gives both the physicians and the patients more options in a relaxed setting. With office hours set at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and radiologists always on site, Valcour Imaging can offer patients same or next day appointments. Parking is never a problem, and they do have handicap accessibility as well as a caring, friendly staff. We all live locally, we are all part of the community and our children go to these schools, said Bula. And we are proud of that.
