A silk scarf custom-designed for the Lahey Clinic by Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont has netted a Service Industry Advertising Award (SIAA) prize for the Clinic's philanthropy department. Beau Ties designed and produced the Clinic's Benefactor Scarf, which received the SIAA Gold Award. The 100 percent pure silk scarf features a gold and navy rope-and-tassel design, as well as the Lahey Clinic name and insignia. Lahey Clinic, of northeastern Massachusetts, presents the scarf as a thank-you gift to its major supporters. The winning scarf was among more than 2,000 entries in to the fourth annual SIAA competition, which is judged in 25 categories by a national panel of industry professionals. SIAA is the only advertising awards competition that specifically recognizes the achievements of the service industry. Beau Ties has created many custom neckties, including designs in honor of colleges, businesses, organizations and even former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, but the Lahey Clinic was its first-ever client to request a custom scarf design. "We were extremely pleased to work with the prestigious Lahey Clinic and ultimately have our product recognized at the national level," says Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont sales manager, Elizabeth Smith. Founded in 1993 by Bill Kenerson and his wife Deb Venman, Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont is a leading catalog and online retailer of handmade silk bow ties.
