Frechette Chosen as Peru's Fire Chief

Frechette succeeds Mark LaFountain as the leader of the 50 person department. Asked to state his highest priority Frechette responded, Well be trying to recruit new members. Weve lost some members. The older men want to pass on their knowledge. Frechette believes that its more difficult than ever to attract people to fire department service. Recalling the days when it seemed like members were always at the fire station he said, People are so busy now. Lifes so busy. Family life seems to be more important than it used to be. What qualities typify a fire fighter? Frechette said, "Someone who is energetic, who wants to help others and who is looking for something to do. Chad Frechette graduated from Peru Central School and joined the fire department in 1993. In 2002 he was named the departments Fire Fighter of the Year. Over the last four years he has served as Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief. Frechette and his wife Jody have two children Katelin, 11 and Erick, 5. He is employed fulltime by the Town of Peru Highway Department.
