Elizabethtown secures MVAC North crown

Westport 72, Long Lake 29 Westport defeated Long Lake, 72-29, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference non-league boys basketball on Feb. 12. Adam Robare scored 18 points, collected six rebounds and five steals to lead Westport, while Tanner Carroll scored 17 points and added 12 rebounds. Peter Jerdo had 10 points. Elizabethtown-Lewis 76, Keene 48 Elizabethtown-Lewis defeated Keene, 76-48, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference Northern Division boys basketball on Feb. 9. The game capped a perfect league season as ELCSwent 12-0 (15-1) to win the MVACNorth. Joe Huttig paced the Lions with 28 points, including six 3-pointers. Derrick Ratliff and Garrett Hume both scored 12 points, and Leif McKinley added 11 points. Toby Sappah led Keene with 19 points, Schuyler Davis scored 15 points and Paolo Sardella had 10 points. Willsboro 49, Crown Point 32 Willsboro defeated Crown Point, 49-32, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball on Feb. 9. Ricky Sayward scored 20 points to lead Willsboro, while Taylor Reynolds scored nine points, 10 rebounds and six steals. AuSable Valley 74, NAC 55 AuSable Valley defeated NAC, 74-55, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball on Feb. 8. Greg Taylor led AVCS with 31 points, including seven 3-pointers. Andrew Bombard scored 19 points and seven rebounds. Elizabethtown-Lewis 54, Chazy 45 Elizabethtown-Lewis defeated Chazy, 54-45, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball on Feb. 7. Joe Huttig led Elizabethtown-Lewis with a game-high 15 points, Garrett Hume added 13 points, Leif McKinley scored 12 points and Derrick Ratliff scored 10 points. Schroon Lake 67, Keene 45 Schroon Lake defeated Keene, 67-45, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball on Feb. 7. Schuyler Davis led Keene with 16 points, while Toby Sappah finished with 14 points. Westport 73, Crown Point 31 Westport defeated Crown Point, 73-31, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball on Feb. 7. Zach Sherman led Westport with 12 points, while Tanner Carroll scored 11 points and Peter Jerdo scored 10 points. Girls Crown Point 39, Willsboro 38, (OT) Crown Point defeated Willsboro, 39-39, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball on Feb. 12. Ashley Sherman scored a game-high 13 points for Willsboro and Stephanie Marcotte added 12 points. AuSable Valley 68, NAC 23 AuSable Valley defeated NAC, 68-23, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conferences girls basketball on Feb. 9. Shannon Nutbrown led the Lady Patriots with 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Nutbrown's seven steals gave her 315 in her career, breaking the school record. Keene 32, Elizabethtown-Lewis 28 Keene defeated Elizabethtown-Lewis, 32-28, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference girls' basketball on Feb. 8. Cori-Anne Gregory led Keene with 14 points, while Emma Kohr added eight points. Riley Diemand scored 12 points and Kelsey Gibson 11 points for the Lady Lions. Westport 57, Johnsburg 31 Westport defeated Johnsburg, 57-31, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference non-league girls' basketball on Feb. 8 Stefanie Russell led Westport with 14 points and added nine assists to lead the Lady Eagles. Virginia Dorsey scored 10 points. Elizabethtown-Lewis 43, Chazy 42 Elizabethtown-Lewis defeated Chazy, 43-42, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference girls' basketball on Feb. 6. Riley Diemand led the Lady Lions with 17 points Katie Gibson added 12 points and 11 rebounds and three blocked shots. Westport 44, Crown Point 17 Westport defeated Crown Point, 44-17, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference girls' basketball on Feb. 6. Zoe Saulsgiver led Westport with 12 points and blocked four shots. Schroon Lake 38, Keene 31 Schroon Lake defeated Keene, 38-31, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference girls' basketball on Feb. 6. Emma Kohr led Keene with 13 points.
