Schroon Lake wins contest

Ticonderoga trounced Northern Adirondack, 54-24, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Jan. 31. Julie Thompson scored 13 points for the Sentinels, who led throughout. Ti was up 26-12 at the half and closed the game on an 18-7 run. Lake Placid 47, Moriah 33 Lake Placid pulled away late to beat Moriah, 47-33, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Jan. 31. The Bombers finished the game with a 12-3 spurt to secure the win. Kaylee Sprague scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Vikings. Keene 26, Crown Point 19 Crown Point fell to Keene, 26-19, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball play Jan. 31. Keene, which only had six players dress for the game. got 10 points from Cori-Anne Gregory. Mary Zapolski had nine points for the Panthers. Ticonderoga 40, Plattsburgh 32 Ticonderoga raced to a 10-0 lead and went on to beat Plattsburgh, 40-32, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Feb. 2. Cheryl Meserve tossed in 16 points to power the Sentinels. Laura Olcott had 10 points as the Sentinels moved into a tie for second with AuSable and to within a half game of first-place Seton. Saranac 53, Moriah 33 Moriah lost to Saranac, 53-33, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball action Feb. 2. Kaylee Sprague scored 11 points for the Vikings. ELCS 28, Crown Point 27 Elizabethtown-Lewis edged Crown Point, 28-27, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball play Feb. 2. Rachel Macey scored 11 points for the Panthers. Westport 55, Schroon Lake 51 Westport edged Schroon Lake, 55-51, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball play Feb. 5. The victory clinched the Northern Division title for Westport. Ashley Whitty scored 17 points and hauled down 15 rebounds for Schroon. Kathleen Decker added 12 points and Savannah Clark 10 for the Wildcats. Schroon Lake 38, Keene 31 Schroon Lake came through at the foul line to beat Keene, 38-31, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball play Feb. 6. Keene held a 30-27 edge from the floor, but Schroon hit 11 free throws seven in the final quarter for the win. Jessica Mehm and Ashley Whitty each scored nine points for the Wildcats. Kathleen Decker added eight. Westport 44, Crown Point 17 Crown Point lost to Westport, 44-17, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference girls basketball play Feb. 6. Rachel Macey and Marijane Zapolski each had four points for the Panthers.
