Regional Chamber announces scheduled events

JOHNSBURG Thursday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m., at the Upper Hudson River Rail Road, the Chamber will host a Thomas the Tank Engine Community Marketing Plan and Informational Meeting All Aboard for Thomas. The chamber will be offering ideas and opportunities for community businesses to co-operatively reach the 18K expected guests for the Thomas event. Those attending are asked to bring a food to pass and a beverage to share. The Black Mountain Resort and Restaurant will host the March 8 membership meeting and Cabin Fever Mixer, beginning at 4:30 p.m., $5 for chamber members, $10 for non-members, finger foods, cash bar, 50/50 drawing. At the invitation of chamber board member Ed Milner, Brian Mann, author of Welcome to the Homeland will be the guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting on Thursday, April 12, 7:00 p.m., at Tannery Pond Community Center. Mann is director of the Adirondack News Bureau of North Country Public Radio. Refreshments will be served. Requested donation, $5. Welcome to the Homeland, published in September 2006, has been called one of the best books to date on the putative red-blue divide in America. Publishers Weekly described Homeland as a lucid, provocative contribution to the conversation. Milner stated, This is the Chambers contribution to the community to better understand political/social trends both in our own area and in the country at large. The public is welcomed to this special event. On May 10, at Tannery Pond Community Center, the Annual Meeting will be held. The agenda will include the election of board members and installation of officers for 2007/2008. The Chamber will be bringing back the much missed Annual Dinner on Saturday, June 30, New Year Summers Eve. July 1, 2007 kicks off the Gore Mountain Region ~ Town of Johnsburgs Chamber of Commerce 2007/2008 fiscal year. Member restaurants will be requested to submit bids for this event.
