News in Brief

ELIZABETHTOWN? The Essex County Public Health Department Maternal Child Health Program will begin to offer expanded childbirth and breastfeeding education materials in February. This material is available to pregnant women in Essex County who are unable to travel to prenatal classes to prepare for childbirth and breastfeeding. Educational videos for labor, delivery and breastfeeding instruction have been obtained through a grant from Greater Adirondack Perinatal Network (GAPNET). Maternal Child Health Nurses are available to review the videos with the expectant parents during a home visit. This service is available to all residents of Essex County regardless of income level or insurance coverage. For more information about these services or to request a visit contact a Maternal Child Health Nurse at Essex County Public Health Department, 873-3500.
