Parenting workshop WARRENSBURG Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County and Warren County Health Services are sponsoring a free Parenting Skills Workshop Series program on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 26. Parents and caregivers with children from toddler to the teen years are encouraged to attend and learn five parenting skills that will help support parents through the challenging and changing years of raising children. Classes are held in a fun, supportive learning environment with refreshments provided. While there is no charge to attend the workshop, registration is required by Feb. 16. Mardi Gras dinner LAKEGEORGE St. James Episcopal Church on Ottawa Street in Lake George is holding a Mardi Gras dinner with live music by the Lake George Community Band on Saturday, Feb. 17, snow date, Sunday, Feb. 18 from 5-7 p.m. The menu will include pulled pork poboys, cole slaw, sausage and chicken gumbo, red beans and rice, cornbread, Mardi Gras cookies, homemade desserts, coffee and tea. Horicon goes online BRANTLAKE The town of Horicon is now online with a Web site that can keep people informed on the different departments of local government and eventually, town board meeting notes. Basket making workshop BRANTLAKE The Friends of Horicon Free Library are now taking registrations for a basket making workshop that will be held on Saturday, March 24 at the Horicon Community Center from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Barbara Blum, a well know basket maker, will be the instructor for the six-hour class. Each participant will make an authentic Adirondack Pack Basket. The workshop is free and open to the public on a first registered, first served basis. Class size is limited and a $20 registration fee will be charged . That fee will be returned on the day of the class. Registrations will be accepted until March 14 or until the class is full.
