LAKE GEORGE Chilly Willy Day organizers are offering buttons that can be used at area businesses for discounts the entire month of February. The buttons are being sold for $1 each at the elementary and high schools, as well as town and village offices and the Sacred Heart Parish Center. Chilly Willy Day is a Lake George Community Comes Together (LGCCT) sponsored event that will take place Sunday, Feb. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Battlefield Park. Organizers say the family friendly event will feature a dodge ball tournament, snow sculpting and games for all ages. A number of prizes solicited from area businesses will be given out and there will be music, including a performance by the Lake George Drum Line. Hot lunch served by school administrators and a baked goods table will round out the afternoon. Over 35 local businesses are offering discounts to button holders on everything from pizza, coffee and dinner out to chocolates, sunglasses and hair cuts. Participating businesses will be displaying a Chilly Willy Poster; a list of discounts is available wherever buttons are sold. Proceeds from the button sales will go to the LGCCT, a local group of community members whose goal is to support substance-free activities for families in the Lake George area. The button was designed by Vanessa Baird, a sixth grade student at Lake George Elementary School. Bairds artwork won first prize in the school-wide design contest for the second year in a row.
