Winter Carnival Seeking King and Queen Nominations

SARANAC LAKE The Saranac Lake region is gearing up for its 111th Annual Winter Carnival. As the tradition dictates, the Winter Carnival Committee is asking for nominations for the 2008 King and Queen. The Royal couple will head a court made-up of local representatives from schools and universities. Nominations for this years King and Queen can be forwarded to the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, located at 39 Main Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Nominations should include a biography of he nominee, detailing the persons involvement in the community and why he or she should be named King or Queen. Employment services are not considered. The King and Queen must commit to attend numerous Winter Carnival festivities. Past Kings and Queens are not eligible. Previous nominations will be accepted. All letters must be signed and deadline to submit an application is Jan. 17, 2008. The appointing of the King and Queen will be made by Kings and Queens of past Carnivals and their names will be announced during the opening ceremony, scheduled for the evening of Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Harrietstown Town Hall. The event is organized by the Womens Civic Chamber.
