Heres wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year! May we all see gasoline and fuel prices take a plunge; health insurance and office visits to become reasonable and our home taxes become affordable. A special luncheon will be held on Sunday, Dec. 30 from 1 - 3 p.m. to honor Nancy Beadnell, Thurman town clerk for over 20 years. Bring a dish to pass and wish Nancy well. Two Thurman youth have been chosen to receive a physical education award at school. Congratulations to Todd Lawson and Stacy Belden! The Thurman Christmas Baskets were packed and delivered on Saturday, Dec. 15. A total of 49 were given out and packed to the brim with home baked goodies and fruit. The committee would like to thank everyone who donated and delivered. Thanks also to Stewarts Shops, Rite Aid, Saratogas Golden Corral thelocal Dunkin Donuts for their donations. We had over a foot of snow on Sunday, Dec. 16 even though there was sleet and freezing rain in between. Snowbirds in Florida may want their neighbors to ckeck camp roofs! Personals
Anniversary wishes are out to Bert and Pauline Germain on Dec. 29 and to Rick and Georgia Kenyon, 38 years, on Jan. 1. Birthdays this week are Herma Baker, Heidi Haskell, Theresa Clayfield, and April Gill on Dec. 29, Robert Red Boulette and Jack Binder on Dec. 30, and Nancy Simkins and Darin Springer start the new year off with birthdays on Jan. 1; Sam Millington on Jan. 2 and Holly Haskell on Jan. 4. The new treasurer of the Sugar Loaf Mountain Seniors Club is Rose Bailey. The club would like to thank George Chonko for a job well done in previous years. The Thurman Volunteer Fire Company will hole the first meeting of the year on Monday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. at the fire house. The Quilting Group will m eet at the town hall on Friday, Jan. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Start the new year off with a new family quilt. The John Thurman Historical Society will not meet during January. Because of the holidays, the Gleaning food distribution will be on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and Jan. 22. The town hall will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Snow
