Video tournament slated

CROWN POINT The Crown Point Connecting Youth and Communities Partnership has invited students in grades 7-12 to show of their best Guitar Hero or Madden Football Playstation II moves during a tournament Friday, Dec. 28, from 2-9 p.m. in the school gym. The tournament will have three brackets consisting of seventh and eighth grades, ninth and 10th grades and 11th and 12th grades. There will be an elimination process for each game and each bracket. The cost to register for the tournament is $10 a person per sport. Players who want to play in both the Guitar Hero and Madden tournaments must register and pay for each individually. Players must pre-register by calling Mars at 585-6366. Payment is not be due until the day of the event. There will be first, second and third place prizes for all bracket winners. There will be snacks available to purchase throughout the event. The cost of the tournament will also cover admission into a dance from 6-9 p.m. All money raised from this event will go toward the first Community Service Learning Project that CYC will be coordinating with the school, students, parents and community for spring 2008, according to Kristi Mars, CYC director.
