Season of gratitude

To the Editor: The Season of gratitude, generosity and compassion is upon us and we at Sweet Charity, a non-profit homegoods resale shop in the heart of Vergennes, have discovered with delight that we live in a community that practices these generous philanthropic acts whether it is The Season or not. Women of Wisdom, a dedicated group of community women, opened Sweet Charitys doors for business in August of this year. Since that momentous moment, Sweet Charity has been overwhelmingly supported by not only our immediate community members but also by folks living beyond the borders of Addison County. We have experienced the great good fortune of witnessing acts both large and small of generosity that leave us stunned with gratitude. Remarkable generosity evidenced by donations of homegoods, time, and financial support. Due completely to our communitys remarkable response to Sweet Charity, a funding check to support Hospice Volunteer Services and Women of Wisdoms philanthropic efforts has already been released, an amazing feat since Sweet Charity was able to realize this goal within two months of operation. Sweet Charity is committed to aiding Hospice Volunteers Services in their mission as well as supporting Women of Wisdom in their quest to support women and children in need throughout our community. To our volunteers, donators and supporters, we send our most heartfelt thanks and understand with great gratitude that our community will continue year round with their amazing acts of generosity and compassion permitting Sweet Charity to contribute to the well being of our neighbors and community. With heartfelt thanks, cheers to you all! Lizbeth Ryan
