Ruth M. (Wright) Tefft

TICONDEROGA Ruth M. (Wright) Tefft, age 94, mother of the late Sally A. (Tefft) Matthews, widow of the late John B. Tefft, died Tuesday, December 11th, 2007, at 3:30 p.m. Mrs. Tefft was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and the daughter of the late Carroll H. and Harriett M. Wright, also of Ticonderoga. She was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School and was active in high school sports as well as many other high school programs. For years she spent time and effort with the local Girl Scout troops and was a member of the Girl Scout committee. She was a former member of the Ticonderoga Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution. For 25 years, she was associated with the Ticonderoga Sentinel, a former local newspaper. At the time of her husband's death in 1965, she assumed his position as publisher of the paper until its sale in 1972. She had been employed by the town of Ticonderoga since 1976, as Court Clerk of the Town Justice Court, and during her tenure there, she had worked with ten different justices. Survivors include her two grandsons, Alexander and Zachary Martin of Burlington, Vermont; her sister, Dorothy M. Nadeau of Orchard Park, NY; a niece, Karen Bielich and her son John of Pittsburgh, PA; and a nephew, Major David J. Nadeau, his wife Misty, and daughters, Jenelle and Desiree of Peyton, Colorado. At the request of the deceased, no funeral service is to be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
