ORDA, CSEA strike accord on 2-year deal

LAKE PLACID Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Locals 059 and 060 and the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) have ended their impasse. ORDA, which operates the 1980 Winter Olympic venues in Lake Placid as well as Gore Mountain in North Creek, and CSEA, whose members are employed at these sites, reached agreement on a two-year contract, retroactive to April 1, 2007 and expiring on March 31, 2009. Both CSEA and ORDA worked diligently to bring the negotiations to resolution, and were able to officially finalize the terms of a mutually beneficial contract earlier today (Tuesday). We are very pleased with the outcome and that we were able to reach agreement just in time for the holidays, said Bill Shurter, CSEA Local 059 President. With negotiations behind us, we can now move forward and focus on what looks to be a very promising year. The negotiations, and resulting agreement, affect some 325 ORDA employees.
