Elks handicap lift in service

TICONDEROGA It has been a busy two years for the Ticonderoga Elks Lodge #1494. Nov. 26, 2005, the permit and paper work process began for the new lodge lobby and handicap lift. Ground breaking took place on Nov. 11, 2006. As of Nov. 11, 2007, the exterior is over 60 percent complete and the lift is operational. We are in hopes of having the exterior completed before bad weather, said Dick Nadeau of the Elks. All of the construction has been accomplished with volunteer help under the direction of local contractor Ray Scott. Without Rays expertise we wouldnt have accomplished what we have thus far, Nadeau said. The financial support from members, friends, local business and organizations has been tremendous. We are about two-thirds of the way towards our goal. Hopefully, with continued support for this project we will reach our financial goal in the near future. The new lift is now operational for public events at the Elks.
