Restaurant owner arrested for sexual contact with a minor

WARRENSBURG Anthony Sapienza, owner of Sapienzas Pizzeria in Warrensburg, was arrested by State Police on Dec. 8 and charged with third degree criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child. The charge stems from an allegation of a 16-year-old girl who claims to have had sexual contact with Sapienza in October or November at a Northway rest area. Police officials said the act was consensual, but the girl was under age. Sapienza, 43, has pleaded not guilty and is free on $10,000 bail pending a court date on Jan. 9 unless a Warren County grand jury files an indictment before then. Sapienza has been writing a free food column for the Adirondack Journal for the past few months.
