Police investigate stabbing at city residence

PLATTSBURGH The Plattsburgh City Police Department has charged a Troy man following a stabbing on the city's south side. Jason M. Kinzer, 33, is alleged to have stabbed Rita Lee, 49, once in the abdomen outside her residence at 94 Bushey Boulevard. According to a department report, the stabbing occurred following an alleged altercation between Kinzer and Lee inside her residence over what was described as an attempted assault on Lees teenage son by Kinzer. Lee reportedly sent her teenaged children out of the residence for help and while she fought Kinzer and was able to get herself out the front door to get help from the neighbors. She was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen by Kinzer as he ran by her fleeing her residence. Kinzer was apprehended behind a residence across the courtyard from Lee's residence. He was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both Class D felonies. Lee was transported by ambulance to CVPH Medical Center for treatment.
