GLENS FALLS Open auditions for Rubout at the Roundabout, Glens Falls Community Theatres latest murder mystery dinner theater production, will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. A general meeting for Rubout at the Roundabout will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. at the hotel, at which time the shows writer and director Bob Myers and production manager Anita Chiaravalle will talk about the show and its various production needs. Rubout at the Roundabout will be presented March 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15 at the Queensbury Hotel. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 6 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 1 p.m. The story takes place 25 years into the future, in the year 2032. The Roundabout at Centennial Circle has been deemed a colossal failure, and a decision has been made to restore the traffic signals to the intersection. A gala event has been organized to celebrate the reinstallation of the traffic signals, including the opening of a time capsule. Rupert Bancroft, international media mogul, is expected to preside over the celebration, but he is nowhere to be found. Nine cast members will be selected at auditions. There are five male roles and four female roles available; however, several of these roles may be adapted for actors of either gender. Each character is of indeterminate age. The characters include Bridget Gunderson, incoming executive director of the Adirondack Regional Chambers of Commerce; Pat Davidson, the long-lost DavidsonSister; Madame Familay, the curator of Mortimer, the Oklahoma Wooden Skull; Kathleen Rushmore, a locally born lounge singer with a dream; her boyfriend and Svengali, career gambler Lucky Louie LaLoosha; Gunther Von Schmutz, the self-proclaimed Condo King of Corinth; ambitious business consultant Peter L. Mulroney; Mickey Mantell, former local high school baseball star and general manager of the Glens Falls Golden Beagles; and intrepid reporter James Scott Doolotta.
