Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve

JOHNSBURG This will be the twelfth year that local residents will come together to sing in Christmas morning! The non-denominational community celebration is held at the United Methodist Church in Johnsburg at 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Based on a traditional Anglican service called Lessons and Carols the even consists of nine different readings that tell the Christmas story, spectacular choral arrangements of Christmas favorites performed by a local choir, and carols sung by all present. The event is always well attended, and the number of voices raised in song combined with the acoustics of this beautiful old church rocks the house. If you havent had a chance to celebrate the arrival of Christmas with candlelight and Silent Night at midnight in Johnsburg, youll want to come if you can. The choir will be directed by Bree Arsenault, oldest daughter of Town Board member Gene Arsenault. She is looking for more singers especially male voices. If you can sing (and read music) and would like to participate, please call Andi McKee at 251-2299 or Sue Allison at 251-3306. All practices are held on the two days before Christmas. If you like to sing, this is where you want to be at Midnight Christmas Eve!
