AMC participates in Season of Giving

SARANAC LAKE - The annual Toys for Kids program currently underway at Adirondack Medical Center is just one of many special events taking place in the spirit of this holiday season. AMC is participating as a collection point in the region-wide "Toys for Kids" program so that every child in our area will have a present under the tree this Christmas. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Main Lobby of Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, and place it in the giant gift box. At the conclusion of the collection period, the toys will be evenly distributed to Adirondack Community Action Programs in Essex County and to the United Way of Franklin County. "The depth of the generosity of our staff towards those in need never ceases to amaze me and believe me, it happens each and every day of the year," remarked AMC President & CEO Chandler Ralph. The holiday spirit extends well beyond Toys for Kids program. Several departments at AMC have "adopted families" who are not as fortunate as others when it comes to the holidays. Individual departments are donating items such as toys, clothing or books so that as many families as possible will share in the joy of this holiday season. Similar "Adopt-A-Resident" programs take place at the AMC Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation facilities. Other events patients and visitors may notice at AMC, will be the presence of carolers and musicians strolling the halls of the hospital while they perform seasonal music. AMC greatly appreciates these community-minded adults and students who bring great pleasure to our patients and their families. And similar to a long-standing tradition of a free turkey for each AMC employee at Thanksgiving, the medical center is providing a Christmas Day meal for those employees who are unable to celebrate the day with their families. It is a small token of appreciation for our employees' willingness to be away from their family on Christmas Day. If you would like to contribute to the holiday spirit at Adirondack Medical Center, please contact the Foundation office at (518) 897-2370, or log onto our website at www.amcCares.org .
