City Limits donates to VUHS Booster Club

Giving back to the community has always been the philosophy of the owner of City Limits, a popular Vergennes night spot. To date, the City Limits club has donated $109,500 to the Vergennes Booster Club (this is several years worth of donations) through the sale of pull tickets. City Limits owner Brett Ward has been generous to the club, taking all of the proceeds from ticket sales and depositing the money directly into the booster account. The booster club uses the money to fund the athletic department at Vergennes Union High School and middle school. We purchase uniforms, supplies, equipment and whatever is necessary for the sports programs to be in the best shape possible, as well as to be competitive with other schools, according to Laurie Steadman, co-president of the VUHS Booster Club. Some of the main things we have provided are cheerleading mats, weight scale for wrestling, new ice machine, championship jackets, banners for soccer, cheerleading, basketball, soccer sound system, score board, gator tractor for outdoor sports, bleachers for soccer, upgrades to the outdoor sports fields, scholarships for graduation, equipment for the rowing team, equipment for lacrosse, and uniforms for all middle school sports. According to Steadman, the school budget for athletics is limited but the booster club is able to provide items to the sports teams without taxing the budget. We are so fortunate to have City Limits and Brett Ward as our biggest supporters, she said. We are again presenting Brett with a plaque in recognition of his continued support. We honestly wouldn't know what to do without him. We strongly encourage anyone to stop by and shake his hand, and tell him thanks for being such a great member of the Vergennes business community.
