Stewart's announces annual holiday pledge for kids

Stewart's Shops will again host its annual Stewart's Holiday Match in all the corporation's locations from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day. During that time, Stewarts Shops will match individual donations made to the program with all funds raised going to charity no administrative costs are deducted. The purpose of the Stewart's Holiday Match is to encourage individual giving and broaden the base of support for local charities. Stewarts Holiday Match is a 501(c)(3) foundation, meaning all donations are tax-deductible. Stewarts also accepts funds from groups or businesses but matches individual donations only. Its a two-part program, commented Stewarts Shops public relations director Susan Law Dake. Our goal is to bring donations in and get applications out to childrens groups in need of funds. Since 1986, Stewarts and their customers have raised nearly $10 million for local organizations benefiting children year-round. Last holiday season, more than $1.1 million was given to local childrens charities. Were looking forward to another successful season of giving, Ms. Dake. Local organizations benefiting children may pick up an application throughout the holidays at any Stewarts Shop; the deadline for submission is Jan. 31, 2008. All groups applying must be locally based, benefit children younger than 18 and be a qualified, charitable 501(c)(3) organization. A brochure will be available throughout the program at Stewart's Shops which lists all 1,060 childrens organizations in their 30-county area that received funds last season.
