The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 55 based in Brandon is hosting a one pitch, coed softball tournament the weekend of Sept. 15-16. The cost of the tournament is $125 with all the profits going to benefit our troops and local veterans. It is going to be a double elimination format and we are limiting it to the first eight teams to sign up.
I you enjoy playing softball, and would like to help out our troops and veterans please get a team together and call Fred at 247-6722. But dont delay because once eight teams sign up that will be it.
Amsterdams Elijah White carried the ball 22 times last Saturday and raced for a league leading 121 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasnt enough to lead his Zephyrs past the undefeated Vermont Ice. Vermont dispatched the Zephyrs 21-13 last Saturday in Colchester to improve to 7-0 on the year.
John Fahey led the rushing attack for the Storm, carrying the ball a dozen times for 84 yards and his first touchdown of the year. Teammate Jason Young found the end zone for the sixth time this season while carrying the ball eight times for 27 yards.
Quarterback Brad Rudderman completed nine of his 18 pass attempts for 140 yard. His favorite target for the day was Rob Joy who caught four passes for 44 yards. Rudderman also found Austin Partain twice for 71 yards. Troy Canada had two receptions as well, netting ten yards and returned a punt 64 yards for Vermonts other touchdown. It was Canadas second punt return this year that ended in the end zone.
Defensively Chris Coppins registered nine tackles while Del Randall and Collin McDonald racked up sacks. Also noteworthy on defense was Aaron Pyers first interception of the season.
