Ti chamber presents awards at annual classic car show

TICONDEROGA A total of 107 trophies were presented at the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerces 15th annual Antique and Classic Car Show held Aug. 5 at the Bicentennial Park.

Over 250 antique and classic vehicles and motorcycles filled the park and more than 2,500 spectators attended. The event was coordinated by Tim and Carol Whitford of Ticonderoga.

Super Wheels winners were David Hambleton of Morrisonville, 72 Chevy Chevelle, and Butch Morse, 1933 Ford Convertible. Both will represent the Ti Car Show at the October Cruisin New England Super Wheels Show in Boston.

Best of Show Car was Gary and Mary Sawyer of Queensbury with a 1974 Plymouth Duster, Best of Show Streetrod, Shane Rancourt of Colchester, Vt., with his1933 Ford Coupe, Best of Show Motorcycle, Charley Burgey of Ti, with his 1999 Harley Davidson Road King, Best of Show Truck, Jim Provost, Morrisonville, 1960 Ford F100 Pickup, Longest Distance Award for 383 miles to the Fisks of Lyndonville and Most Likely To Be Pulled Over, selected by the Ti Police Department, was awarded to Travis Wallace of Mineville with his class V Tuner Cars vehicle. The 50/50 winner of $611 was Brenda Roseberry of Albany.

Local winners included: in the Motorcycles Custom division, the first place winner was Charlie Burgey of Ticonderoga, Motorcycles Stock second Wayne Austin, Ticonderoga, Motorcycles Stock third place Vicki Fastzkie, Ticonderoga, Camaro/Firebird 67 to 81 Stock first place Kent Belden, Ticonderoga, Camaro/Firebird 82 to present/Stock second place Jim Taylor, Ticonderoga, Corvettes 97 to Present third place Allan Clark, Moriah, Factory Muscle Cars first place, Scott Edele, Schroon Lake, Factory Muscle Cars second place Jim Lapier of Port Henry (who can pick up his trophy at the chamber), Mustangs 74 to present third place, Doug Smith, Ticonderoga, Special Interest first place John Borton of Ticonderoga, second place Dan Halpert, Ticonderoga, third place Joe LaPeter, Crown Point, Stock 50 to 59, second place, 1957 Thunderbird went to Chuck Moore of (Ti) Queensbury.

Stock 65 to 69 third place Bob Tur, Port Henry, Stock 70 to 79 third place Bob Childs, Ticonderoga, Stock to 48 third place Ed Markiewick, Ticonderoga, Trucks modified third place Stephen Williams, Crown Point, Trucks Stock (4x4) first place Mark Austin, Crown Point, second place Mike Cherubini, Hague, Trucks Stock (2x2) third place, Thomas Neddo, Ticonderoga, Tuner Cars third place John Sheehan, Ticonderoga.
