Actor, musician, newspaper columnist, and now author Rusty DeWees of Elmore, VT., will hold a book signing at Barres Thunder Road as part of the stock car racing program on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
No stranger to Thunder Road, DeWees perhaps more commonly known by his stage name The Logger and locally as Addison Eagle humor columnist will autograph copies of his soon-to-be-released book, Scrawlins. During the early years of his wildly popular one-man show named after his character, DeWees was a weekly competitor in Thunder Roads Allen Lumber Street Stock division.
You better get it, you might be in it, or at least know someone in it, said DeWees when talking about Scrawlins. I figured Thunder Road might be a good place to unveil the new book because theres lots of people there that at least know someone in it.
DeWees appearance at Thunder Road is just part of the excitement surrounding the event. American-Canadian Tour Late Model drivers Jamie Fisher, of Shelburne, Dave Pembroke, of Montpelier, and Cris Michaud, of Williamstown, are in the midst of the tightest three-way King of the Road championship race in history. Just seven points separate the drivers with two championship races remaining on the schedule. After this event, ths years Thunder Road Late Model Champion will be decided.
Gates open on Fisher/Federated Auto Parts Night, Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 4:30 p.m., with racing action scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
