QUEENSBURY New Yorks First Lady, Silda Wall Spitzer, hosted a focus group at Adirondack Community College on Aug. 15 as part of her state-wide effort to work toward preventing talented and educated young professionals from leaving the state in search of other employment opportunities.
Spitzer met for about an hour with local private sector employers, government and education officials, and chamber of commerce leaders for a round-table discussion. The event was part of a fact-finding mission by The First Lady in preparation for the I Live New York summit Sept. 18 at SUNY Cortland.
In a prepared statement, Spitzer said the Sept. 18 summit is aimed at taking a hard look at one of the most serious economic problems facing the state.
By bringing together key stakeholders, I hope to initiate a comprehensive and coordinated examination of the factors driving young people out of New York and explore the public and private initiatives that may help reverse this troubling trend, she said in a news release.
