Around the county

Sympathy is extended to the family of Roy Magee, a well-known politician who died unexpectedly this past week.

The Bells Corn Maze in Chazy at 499 Ratta Road sounds like a lot of fun to this writer.

The entry cost is $5; little ones under 4 are free. There are mazes for adults, older children, and one for smaller kids, too. For information and group rates call Matt Bell at 846-8586. Matt is the son of Bruce and Bev Bell, former Plattsburgh residents and good friends who now reside in Sebastian, Florida.

Bad storms rocked our region last week. Boats were overturned and flew through the air at Treadwell Bay. A manmade marina north of Plattsburgh. Trees were down, power was out throughout the city of Plattsburgh and close environs. Here on Willsboro Point, we had a lot of wind and a pontoon plane broke loose in the bay, causing quite a bit of concern. It certainly cooled things down, and the humidity levels have been nearly nonexistent since then.

Soccer teams are on the fields getting ready for the fall season and the roads appear to be a bit quieter as another summer season begins to wind down. Im not sure about you, but Im not quite sure where the summer went! We have been very busy, but it has flown by, thats for sure. My husband, the manager of our time until we leave for Florida, states that we are now under 90 days. It just does not seem possible.

Within the next 10 days our oldest grandchild will leave the harbor of his home in Burlington, VT, and will head to the University of Rochester to begin his college career. I do believe that he is more than ready for this new adventure. I am also just as sure that his mother will survive it, but it will definitely take some getting used to! Anyone out there who has sent their first born off to college will understand the excitementand the trepidation!

It was good to see Alice Church at a gathering on Willsboro Point this week!

Enjoy the next couple of weeks. Get the school clothes and the supplies bought so its not a last minute chore. Fall is the most beautiful time of year here, in my opinion! In the mean time remember that Each Day is Gods Gift to You. Make it Blossom and Grow into a Thing of Beauty.
