To the Editor:
I am interested in the article on the Molly Stark cannon in the Aug. 11 issue. Who do I contact about it? We almost had a Civil War cannon in the Bristol Fourth of July Parade, but the Civil War Cavalry Reenactors didnt really have access to a cannon. Most probably the Bennington people would not be too excited about having (the Molly Stark) in a Bristol parade, but no harm in asking. They probably have their own parade and all that. However, I am sure that with Pat Palmer and others we could get horses to pull it and reenactors to act as gun crew. So, can you give me any clues on contacting the Bennington cannon owners? It is probably back in New Boston or wherever by now.
The Eagle replies: We suggest you contact the town clerk in New Boston, N.H., home of the Molly Stark cannon for more details and how to contact the New Boston Artillery Co. who care for it. Also, local reenactors may read your letter here and contact us (or you) regarding how to secure a cannon for the Bristol Independence Day Parade. Sounds like a great idea!
