PLATTSBURGH A Plattsburgh Police Department investigation alleges Clinton County Historical Association Board Member Matthew M. Boire stole pieces of history from the museum and listed some on e-bay.
The President of the Historical Association, Roger Harwood, contacted The Plattsburgh Police Department when he found an 1863 sword and scabbard that had been stolen from the museum, posted on e-bay. Harwood said the sword and scabbard had been presented to Captain William B. Pratt in 1863.
City Police obtained a search warrant for Boires home in the city and found 2 ceremonial swords and scabbards, a Civil War era rifle and a Civil War era American flag. All of the items had allegedly been taken from the Clinton County Historical Museum on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base.
Boire was arrested on a charge of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the third Degree, a class D felony, and will be arraigned this morning in Plattsburgh City Court.
The investigation in continuing at this time.
