South Burlington coach honored for 40 years of Dolphin pride

In addition to teaching the athletic skills that would bring the Dolphins so much success, LaBerge has offered his athletes life lessons, a family to turn to, and an inspirational message conveyed in his acronym P.R.I.D.E.: Personal Responsibility for Individual Daily Effort.

Each one of these kids is his kid, said Dolphins treasurer, Nancy Belisle, of the strong personal relationship LaBerge develops with his players, many of whom have come to the team from troubled homes.

Evident in the overwhelming number of present and former Dolphins members who attended the reception and even joined in a big group hug with the man of the hour, LaBerges influence runs deeper than simply that of the average sports coach. As stated by former Dolphin player, Luke Snelling, each of these kids goes on to do great things and we owe a lot to Rene.
