New executive director named at Chaffee Art Center

The Chaffee Art Center is pleased to announce their selection of the new Executive Director, Richard Macaluso, of Shrewsbury. Macalusos business background and creative approach to organizational development are the precise skills the Chaffee was seeking. Richs leadership and business management skills are the perfect complement to our already talented staff, said Pat Hunter, President of the Chaffee Art Centers Board of Directors.

Rich concurs with Whitney Lamy, as Artistic Director for the Chaffee and the strong support of Tammy English as Office Manager, I feel we have a dynamic and experienced team to bring the Chaffee into a new era, said Macaluso. Part of that vision is building on the work begun in the past year to make the art gallery a premiere showcase for both local artists and major shows from elsewhere in the state and New England. As such, the Chaffee is currently preparing to fill a new position, Gallery Director.

The combined depth and breadth of the staff will provide the foundation upon which the Chaffee can grow, said Hunter. I feel fortunate to be a part of this team. I know we will look back a decade from now and mark this as a major turning point for the Chaffee and its place in Rutlands overallcreative economy.

Rich Macaluso, the owner of MailPerfect, a mail service business in Rutland, already knows the Chaffee from the inside. He resigned from the Chaffee Board of Directors to accept the role of Executive Director. I enjoy taking on new challenges, said Macaluso who, while living in New Jersey before 1992, developed two successful businesses. This is an opportunity to really make a difference in the community Macaluso said. He was a member of Killington Rotary for 5 years and in January joined the Rutland Kiwanis.

Whitney Lamy, in addition to developing programs at the Chaffee, is an artist and educator, Vice President of the Vermont Committee Board for the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., a member of the Steering Committee of Rutlands Creative Economy and currently on the Board of the Rutland Regional Chamber of Commerce.
