On 1 p.m. Saturday, Vermonters and others heard the "Good Vibrations" from The Beach Boys music at the Rutland fairgrounds. Spectators listened to the sounds of the sixties again as The Beach Boys took the stage.
California Girls could be heard as attendees tossed beach balls among the crowd. The remaining members of the Beach Boys, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston belted out the songs just like yesterday. The band came to Rutland for the first time ever, with the help of many promoters.
The large capacity crowd welcomed the band with open arms as some people surfed atop the shoulders of other concert attendees. The band's first song was "Surfing'," released in 1961.The band's biggest hit, "Kokomo," wasn't released until 1988.The band hasn't taken a summer off in 40 years and have performed more shows than any other major rock act.
