Agency celebrates anniversary with donations

WARRENSBURG It was a reverse birthday present, and Hudson Headwaters got the gift.

Cool Insuring is celebrating 150 years of business in the area, and according to Cool Vice President Michael Grasso, the owners decided to donate $10,00 to 15 area charities.

Charles W. Cool started this agency in 1857 and we bought that agency, so it is now 150 years old, Grasso said. The owners got together and decided to give back to the communities that have supported them, and we chose Hudson Headwaters Health Network as one of the recipients.

Cool Account Executive Gary Edie said the owners had asked the sales people for ideas for donations.

Hudson Headwaters gives immensely to this area regardless of insurance or income, Edie said. My family are all clients and my recently deceased parents were cared for here and I have to thank Hudson Headwaters for the compassion and care they showed us all.

Edie and Grasso presented Hudson Headwaters CEO Dr. John Rugge with an enlarged check for $10,000 last week.

Birthdays usually go the other way, Rugge said. We havent been around as long as Cool Insuring, but weve been here since 1974. Were the only local provider of medical services in Warrensburg and north and weve worked with Cool as insurers along the way. This is a huge check in every way.

Rugge said that the $10,000 donation will go to the health networks foundation to purchase equipment that otherwise couldnt be replaced or purchased.

We are also trying to create an endowment for a permanent pool of money to support us, Rugge said.

Other recipients in Warren County are Glens Falls Hospital, Greater Adirondack Home Health Aides and the Hole in the Woods Ranch in Lake Luzerne. The remaining charities to receive donations are in the capital district, where Cool also does business.
