The press release states that McKee, Schmale and Vanselow have teamed together to offer a concerned, thoughtful approach to improving Johnsburg by presenting ideas and facts the public can use to make decisions on how to secure a viable future for Johnsburg.
Because we believe that informed decisions lead to positive growth, we are putting forward ideas that will build consensus around smart growth practices, McKee said.
The concept of Smart Growth is not new; just last month the state Department of Environmental Conservation announced $1 million in grants to Adirondack towns for Smart Growth planning.
Growth is happening whether we are enthusiastic about or not, McKee said in the press release. People will continue to migrate to the Adirondacks to enjoy the same benefits we value so highly. We can just react to the changes and crisis this growth puts on our infrastructure, or we can set up clear goals and plans for what we want the town to be like at full build out.
The party plans to hold several events before the election that will provide town residents with an opportunity to discuss their concerns about growth and visions for the future with the candidates. Information will be available in print and on the website at www.johnsburgsmartgrowth.com, the press release said. Though when a News Enterprise reporter attempted to access the Website on Wednesday, it wasnt functioning.
The candidates are currently circulating petitions, and are very interested in getting as many viewpoints as possible from town residents, they said.
