Sentinels win baseball test

Ticonderoga withstood a late Beekmantown rally to post a 6-4 victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play April 23. Ticonderoga edged Moriah, 2-1, in a pitchers duel during Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play April 21. Hunter Denno fired a one-hitter for the Sentinels for the mound victory. He struck out 12. Moriahs Nick Popp almost matched his counterpart. Popp hurled a two-hitter, fanning seven. Ti won the game in the sixth inning when John Breitenbach struck out, but reached base on a wild pitch. Adam Pond followed with a two-run homer. Crown Point 4, Chazy 0 Crown Point beat Chazy, 4-0, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball action April 20. Jacob Spring fired a three-hitter in posting the shutout for the Panthers. He fanned 15. Philip Nadeau had four hits for the winners. Schroon 6, Willsboro 4 Schroon Lake topped Willsboro, 6-4, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball action April 21. Ethan Tyrrell scattered seven hits and struck out 15 for the Wildcats. Schroon won the game by scoring twice in the sixth inning on consecutive hits by Will Thompson, Cody Merrill and George Egan. Kyle Bush had two hits for the Wildcats. Ticonderoga 6, Beekmantown 4 Ticonderoga withstood a late Beekmantown rally to post a 6-4 victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play April 23. Leading 6-1, the Sentinels had to bring Zach LaPointe from the bullpen to quell a Beekmantown comeback bid in the final inning. LaPointe came in with the score 6-4 and the bases loaded with no outs. He fanned two batter and got the final out on a pop up. Todd Carr blasted a grand slam to key the Sentinel offense. Crown Point 22, Willsboro 3 Crown Point ripped Willsboro, 22-3, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball action April 24. Travis Tabor had five hits and three runs batted in for the Panthers. Crown Point actually trailed 3-2 before erupting for 10 runs in the fifth inning and scoring 10 more in the sixth. Phillip Nadeau gained the mound victory, scattering four hits and striking out 14. Chazy 9, Schroon Lake 0 Chazy blanked Schroon Lake, 9-0, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball action April 24. Kyle Bush had two hits for the Wildcats.
